Peanut Butter Pretzel Bite Yums...

What happens when you mix peanut butter...
pretzels....
and chocolate together?
Joy and happiness.
And whom do I have to thank for this Joy and Happiness?
Pinterest.

Yep.
Pinterest alerted me to this madness.
And I am ever so thankful.
Pinterest is a wealth of ideas, recipes and projects.
And some are great ideas.
And some not so great.
Enter two ingredient pancakes.
You can read all about my experiment here
It was ugly.
But, this was a Pinterest success.

I ended up having to research the original recipe as the Pinterest link I had was a total failure.
But, I found it.
Two Tiny Kitchens made the original recipe

This is one recipe I highly recommend you try.
But, be warned.
These are very addicting.
I think that instead of chocolate chips next time I am going to use a quality dark chocolate.
And trust me....
I will be making these again soon!

Homemade Oatmeal Cream Pies

Homemade Oatmeal Cream Pies
Best Idea Ever.

The filling in these.
Amazing.
Creamy.
mmmmm....

How could anyone resist these?
Kid or adult?
I brought these into work.
They were gone.
Fast.

Again look at that filling.
and I loved the hint of cinnamon in these cookies.

Even my cat was intrigued.
What do you mean your cats don't like Oatmeal Cream pies?

Make these cookies.
Soon!

I found this recipe from Girl Who Bakes.
It was a Pinterest find.
Of course.
Here is the link to her recipe.

I made some alterations.
I drastically reduced the amount of sugar in the cream filling.
It sounded way too sweet for me.
I probably only used a half cup of sugar.
I also did not use any whole wheat flour in the cookie recipe.
I used all purpose for the flour called for in the recipe.
And they turned out amazing!

Smiles and have a great weekend!!

Lemon Melting Moments Cookies

One can never eat too many cookies right?
I mean itty bitty cookies like these...
surely count as half a cookie.
Only, there are two cookies sandwiched together...
But an oreo counts as one so surely these are the same.

I saw this recipe a while ago on Pinterest.
And I decided that it was time I tested it out.
In my very technical Suzy Social Worker way...
which is totally spur of the moment.
And based on a bag of lemons in my fridge that are just dying to be used up.

It was fun to try out a recipe from a site I am not familiar with.
Pinterest is a great place for finding ideas and recipes from new blogs and authors.
The only problem.
I get overwhelmed.
For example- I have 143 cookie ideas pinned to be "Cookie" board.
143 cookies!!!
Help!!
So, I think I wanna keep trying out these new recipes.
But, I need some help.
So, come find me and follow me at my Pinterest page
And let me know what cookie recipe you want me to try next.

And if you want to try out these cookies- check out this link
Itty Bitty Kitchen made these cookies and they are delicious.
Of course, I did made some small adaptions.
For example, I used the zest of two lemons for the cookies (they were small lemons)
and the juice of two lemons in the filling.
I also made these cookie as small as I could and ended up with 18 sandwich cookies.
Enjoy!!
And be sure to tell me what cookie you want to see next.
As I cannot keep cookies around me all day- I tend to share them at work.
So, if you know me come find me soon for some cookies!

Pinterest fail....

I must share some very sad news....  I had yet another Pinterest failure.   Instead of keeping this failure to myself- I decided to share it all with you.  There are some very funny and witty blogs out there- Pintester and  others that blog exclusively about Pinterest successes and failures.

I decided to test out the two ingredient pancake "pin" that is floating around out there.   The premise for the recipe is easy- only two ingredients- bananas and eggs. You mash up one egg and banana together.  You then fry it up in a pan like a pancake and presto!- you have two ingredient pancakes.

I am here to provide a pubic service to you all.   These are not pancakes.   They turn out kinda wet and soggy.   Now I know that I would prefer to scramble my egg and eat a banana on the side.   I can see how these "pancake imposters" appear to be fluffy.  But, don't be fooled.   They are not as fluffy and airy as the real thing.   They do not taste like pancakes.   They taste like mashed up bananas and eggs.   Which I learned I do not like mixed together.  Take note Gerber- banana and egg would not be a best seller.

I kinda feel duped.  Like when someone told me spaghetti squash tastes just like spaghetti.  Nope.  It doesn't.  It tastes like spaghetti squash with spaghetti sauce on top.   Which can be quite tasty, but does not taste like spaghetti.

So, I know that most blogs are filled with beautiful recipes and talk nothing of kitchen failures.  But, I am a wanna-be blogger so I will keep it real here.  I have many many failures in the kitchen.  I also have made many recipes that were mediocre.   But, I do love to share the recipes that did turn out delicious.  And, I also feel obligated to tell you of the recipes that did not turn out at all.   This is one of them.   So next time you get a hankering for some pancakes- make some real ones please.   Pancakes are meant to be fluffy, tender, buttery pillows of deliciousness.   If you are worried about over indulging on the real thing- save them for the weekend.  And eat the eggs and bananas (served separately- of course) during the week.

Saving the world from fake pancakes.  No thanks is needed.

Random Saturday Thoughts

Random Thoughts for a Saturday....

I should be baking something or taking pictures of something so you don't think of me as just Suzy Social Worker... and Forget the Betty Crocker part....

I should be cleaning my house but I really don't feel like it.

I have adorable valentine cookies waiting to be iced, but I am cozy right now on my sofa.

Reasons why I love Saturdays: sleeping in, hot bubble baths, not doing my hair, reading my kindle uninterrupted for long periods of time, catching up on TV shows (Downton Abbey!!), and staying in my flannel pants for most of the day.

Things most people do on Saturday that I avoid- grocery shopping (heck no!!), cleaning, laundry (ok-I do this every once in a while on a Saturday), clean their cars, shovel their sidewalks (ahem....), clean their bathrooms (double ahem.....) etc.

Things that make me laugh...  This cat poster below.

More random thoughts for a Saturday.  I have been wanting to get a blender.... I don't really have the type of money right now for a blender except for the Hamilton Beach $14.99 variety from Walmart.  I have already tried that variety and it broke right in the middle of margarita time.  Not Cool.

So, when I win the lottery and buy myself a blender what kind should I get?   I understand there is a bit of a blender war going on out there... The war of the Blendtec vs. Vita-mix.   I take no sides in this war.  I am Switzerland.   Minus the chocolate part.  Cause I already ate all the chocolate.

vs.

So what side are you on?  Do you prefer one over the other?  Both are expensive- so don't worry yourself too much. I won't be rushing out to make any rash decisions just yet.   And to be completely honest- I want to jump on the I-am-putting-kale-and-bananas-together-for-breakfast-bandwagon but I am not sure if I am ready to drink green drinks yet.

And my last random thought for this Saturday.  Is everyone as obsessed with twine as much as I am?  And don't even get my started on my love for Washi tape.....

I promise to share some baked goodies soon.   I have been thinking of recreating my Blueberry French Toast blog post.   It has had quite a few hits on Pinterest, but I cringe every time I see the picture.   It was pre-nice-camera.   I still don't know how to use my nice camera, but I still may recreate it just for my poor ego's sake.

I also hope to someday try adding on some better buttons to my blog page.   I follow Simply Sweets By Honeybee and she has a post with some helpful hints.  Thanks Melissa!

Everyone have a safe and happy weekend filled with cooking, cleaning or just relaxing!!

A Pinterest Experiment

I found this idea on Pinterest... And it involved green onions, water and time... So I decided to give it a try.

The idea is pretty basic. You lop off the tops- or green sections- of your green onions and place the roots in water. The theory is that the green onions roots will grow. In time your green onions will grow more green stems and you can cut off what you need and the greens will keep growing.

So here are my green onions- Day 1. I will keep you posted on how the experiment goes (or grows).

Happy Halloween everyone!!!! Be safe and brush your teeth! Haha!
