Oreos & Baby Boys....

I was asked to make some treats for a friend's gender reveal party.   And she and her husband are Oreo fans so they asked me to make some homemade Oreos with a special hint in the middle.   

My friend even found me the perfect recipe from My Kitchen Addiction.  I followed her recipe for these homemade Oreos.

And inside each cookie was a "pop pf color".   It was amazing to be there at the party and to see everyone's faces and especially K & LA's faces when they bit into their cookies.

And I had to make some extra Oreo treats for the party as well.    Oreo cupcakes with Oreos on the bottom.   So simple and yummy.

I had a lot of fun baking up this surprise.   Although, when I received the envelope with the baby's gender it was a tad surreal.  I knew what the gender was before the parents even knew.   But, the party was very special.   Do you know anyone who had a gender reveal party?

As the holidays are approaching one cannot help but checking out goodies online.   And of course, I manage to find things that I adore.   Here are a few of recent favorites.  

Look at these beautiful measuring cups.   They make me want to mix butter and sugar together.  forever.  I imagine that cookies made with these taste so much better than ones made with my plastic measuring cups.   They are from Anthropologie.  Of course.  Who doesn't love that place?  

Oh and these beauties.   Anthrolopologie again.   I think that they sneak into my subconscious and create things from the ideas I have there.   So, Anthropologie owes me for all of their great ideas.  Or they at last owe me some cute measuring cups.

And now onto the measuring spoons.  I love gingerbread men.   I can almost smell them.  Okay that sounded weird.   Let's just forget I said that.

Speaking of owls.  These owls are a set? from World Market.   The largest owl is a cookie holder and the medium sized owl is a measuring cup set and the mini's are measuring spoons.   I LOVE this set.   LoVe!!

But this is what I am asking Santa for this Christmas.   I would like the porch and this swing.   Minus the sleeping lady.   Yeah, that would be kinda creepy if Santa included the sleeping lady.   But, I have no doubt that Santa can wrap up a wrap-around porch and swing for me.   I am sure it will fit just dandy under the tree.

A sweet Little Punkin.....

I went back to Lynd's a couple of weeks ago.  My Mom and I took Doodles pumpkin picking.   There were oodles of pumpkins to choose from.  

But Doodles wanted nothing to do with big pumpkins.  He only liked the lil pumpkins.

He's a cute lil punkin too.  Isn't he?

Yep- we went pumpkin picking.

And we had a great time.

I know that I have missing for a bit.   And I promise I have a good excuse.   I am hopefully on the road to recovery.   I had a few bumps in my health and am glad to be home now.   But, being out of commission for a while means that I have not baking.   And based on how I feel now, I probably will need a few more days till I jump back into the kitchen.

Fun Times are coming

Been having some health issues and they have put me out of cooking and baking commission for a bit.  This has been so sudden for me.   But, I promise I have not forgotten about this blog.  I do have something fun coming up and as soon as I am feeling up to it- I will share the fun.  So stay tuned!!

Cheesy Ranch Rolls

If there are three things that I could not live without in this world- well besides my family (fur and human) I would have to say the three B's.

B-Bacon

B-Bread 

B-Baked Goods

I know I cheated a little with baked goods, but c'mon I cannot choose between cake, brownies and cookies.  I really love them all.  

I do hold a special place in my heart for bread though.   I am a sucker for any restaurant that serves good fresh bread as a starter.   Bravo- bread is good, but that dipping sauce.... mmmmm  Spaghetti Warehouse- best sourdough and garlic butter ever.  I really must recreate the garlic butter.  Cap City Diner- quite possibly the world's most perfect roll.  I could go on.  But, I will spare you all.   

So I decided to create a yummy roll for myself at home.   I used Rhodes frozen dinner rolls because they are quick and simple.   I used the regular method as described on the package to defrost them.  I them took cheese and wrapped each roll around it.  I spread a little softened butter on top of each roll and baked them.  

I then created a ranch butter glaze for the top.   Delicious.   Seriously- who doesn't love ranch butter?  Ok-if you don't- just don't tell me.  Cause we can't be friends then.  just kidding.  maybe.....

I know that the pictures aren't great, but that is oozing cheese in the middle of that roll there.

I think that I want some more of these rolls right now.  For breakfast.   Now that wouldn't be weird at all would it?   I may have eaten three (or four) of these when I made them.   They would be fabulous as a bread side to pasta or even steak.

Recipe:

Package of Rhodes frozen dinner rolls- You will only need 12 for this recipe
3 string cheese sticks cut into fourths
2 TBS melted butter
1 tsp ranch dressing dip packet mix

Defrost your rolls.   Take each roll and wrap it around a piece of cheese and place in a baking dish.   You can lightly butter each roll before baking, but this would be optional.   Bake according to directions on package. I baked mine at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.   I watched mine carefully because I prefer my rolls a little underbaked versus overbaked.   Mix your melted butter and dry ranch dip mix together and brush over cooked rolls.   Enjoy.

And if there is anyone out there who can eat just one of these- please let me know so I can meet them in person.

Adventures in Apple Picking

Last weekend I headed to Lynd's Fruit Farm with a couple of friends to pick some apples.   And what a great day we had.  

I always love visiting Lynd's Fruit Farm.   They have a fabulous market place where you can buy Lynd's fresh fruit and vegetables and also freshly grown produce from local farmers.   

Lynd's also produces their own line of jams and jellies.

And the apples.  The apples.   The apples.   I cannot recall what apple variety this is.  But, I did eat a few of them.  And they were delicious.

I had to take this picture.   For my Doodles, Cake Butt and Pie.   Plus, it really was a cool and rusted out old tractor.

I met the sweetest lady when I was at Lynd's.   Jenn had a stand set up at the Fruit Farm.   I saw the cupcakes- swoon- initially but, knew that I would come back later.  And when I did she was almost all sold out!   Jenn was so sweet she gave me a cupcake and chocolate covered oreo to take home to try.   I got to try the Chocolate Caramel Corn Cupcake.   It was amazing.   It you are on the east side and want to try out some delicious cupcakes- check out Jenn's Cupcakes and Confections.   Here is her facebook page.

I am really trying to save some apples to I can try out some apple recipes.   But so far it is not looking promising.   I have been eating them..... 

I guess I will just have to go back to Lynd's to get some more apples.
