Ham and Cheese Sliders

Ham and Cheese go together like peanut butter and jelly right??? Like chocolate and peanut butter??? okay... you get the picture. I originally found the idea for ham and cheese sliders from Pinterest (aka also known as where did the time go???). The ham and cheese sliders looked amazing and when I checked out the recipe it seemed pretty simple. As I am naturally lazy, I had to think about these sliders for a few days before I decided one night to just make them. I had the ham and the cheese so how hard could it be huh?? Now I am certainly learning that with this whole bogging deal comes a responsibility and that is to make and follow recipes exactly so you can then share them with others... Which I am still learning... and learning... So I decided to make ham and cheese sliders and of course right away realized I was lacking some of the ingredients called for in the original recipe. The original recipe is from "The Girl Who Ate Everything". I seemed to be lacking poppy seeds and onion so I improvised.

The best part of these ham and cheese sliders is the buttery glaze you pour on top of the sliders. I had Hawaiian Sweet rolls on hand and put ham and cheese on them and then melted one stick of butter, added a few dashes on onion powder, a few shakes of Worcestershire sauce, a good squirt of mustard and then mixed it all together. If you had poppy seeds you would add them in and finely chopped onion instead of the onion powder.

I made a few sliders by brushing the glaze on top and wrapping them in foil as recommended. Then I baked them at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Boy were they yummy.

'

After I made a few sliders I had a ton of glaze left and decided to make up a few more to take in my lunch. And this time I decided to spread some of that yummy glaze in between the rolls as well as on top.... YUM-O.

I will definitely make these again. They would be great for a football game or a game night at home. And next time I am adding a little honey to my glaze. I think that my next post is going to be on my love of Pinterest. I could get lost for hours on there. And if I need my Pinterest fix- I have my iphone app to use. Dangerous right???

Hope everyone has a fabulous week!!

Bad Oven Bad Oven.....

Wouldn't you know it... Just as I start to get into this blogging thing... my oven decides to act up. I have known for quite some time that I would need to buy a new one soon as my oven is an original- almond color and all. But it has treated me well for the past few years. The stove still works great but the oven seems to be cooking unevenly and takes forever to preheat. And we all know cooking unevenly is a "no no" when it comes to baking. So I am going to share to picture of some of my past baking escapades while I figure out how a new oven fits into my social worker budget.

This picture was taken fairly recently as I helped a friend bake for her daughter's first birthday. The party theme was a garden party theme and I made miniature lady bug cookies for the cupcakes and smash cake. I also baked cupcakes and iced them with buttercream and placed the lady bugs on top of each cupcake. My friend made the large cupcake and iced it with grass icing as well and again we decorated it with some more lady bug cookies. I had a lot of fun baking for this party. I did learn that summer heat and buttercream do not mix as the cupcakes barely made it to the party before melting. I also made some mini butterfly cookies with the ladybugs and we were able to serve the extras on a plate with the cupcakes.

I hope I have enough pictures of past cooking and baking experiments to last me till I can figure out an "oven plan". If not I may do a lot more cooking than baking for a while on this blog. I am hoping that I can find a deal on a dishwasher and oven so I can replace all my older appliances at once.

Thanks again for checking out my blog as it gets a very slow start.

And certainly not lastly in my mind as thoughts and remembrances of 9/11 have been there all day- I send out thoughts and prayers to all families affected by 9/11 on this 10th anniversary.

Chocolate + Peanut Butter = LOVE

I made these cookies some time ago but have been really slow on this whole "blogging" thing. But I wanted to share a picture of them. I liked this recipe, but know I have a better chocolate cookie recipe out there somewhere so I would like to try another cookie recipe before I consider sharing it.
